The interiors-living spaces macro-topic declined in all its sub-sectors - furniture,  furnishing accessory,  arts and crafts,   recreational vehicles and nautical sector - appears particularly strategic for the Tuscany Region as the coexistence of the four sectors is presented as a unicum on a national level. At the same time, in these sectors and, more generally in current scenarios, design increasingly appears to be a discipline capable of contributing to the competitiveness of the system.
It is within this context that dID - Interior and Design District was born, which carries out the function of spreading the culture of innovation among the reference sectors and as an intermediary for technology transfer.

The District offers advanced and qualified services in relation to strategic aspects for the competitiveness of individual companies in relation to product, process and market innovation, also through the elaboration of strategic research and development projects in the context of regional and European tenders.

Cluster animation activities are planned in order to organize collaboration between enterprises, research system, public and private - matching between supply and demand for innovation; the organization, the sharing and the dissemination of strategic information in favor of companies, with a view to economic intelligence; district marketing aimed at promoting the participation of new businesses or organizations; the organization of seminars and conferences on the reference topics.

dID will also work on strengthening synergies with other Tuscan clusters, participating in national technology clusters.

dID is managed by the Experimental Center of Furniture and Furnishings, Navicelli, Consorzio Polo Tecnologico Magona, Assoservizi, Cna Servizi and supported by the Tuscany Region as part of the Technological Districts Call with a steering committee that includes the three Tuscan universities - Florence, Pisa, Siena -, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the Cnr, as well as sector companies representing trade associations.
